Mrs. Mildred Gladys nee Taylor Vasilak

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother after a brief and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, in her 81st year surrounded by her family on August 11, 2010 at McMaster University Medical Centre. Forever cherished by her husband Larry of 60 years. Dear mother of John (Mary) and Tom (Donna) Vasilak of Hamilton and Susan (Petar) Radoja of London. Loving and devoted grandmother of Andrew, Paul, Jordan (Amber), Jane, Lauren, Nathan, and Lindsay. Dear sister of the late Norman (Muriel) Taylor, Audrey and the late Alexander Forbes. Mildred was born in 1929 in Hamilton to Thomas and Gladys Taylor. Mildred was a life long learner, a loyal devoted Hamiltonian, a proud retired teacher with the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board, a director for 60 years to Hamco Heating & Cooling Ltd. and a valued volunteer for many years with the Art Gallery of Hamilton. The family will receive friends at a Memorial Service for Mildred, Friday October 8th at 11:00 a.m. at Bayview Mausoleum in the Upper Chapel at 740 Spring Gardens Road, Burlington, Ontario. Interment to follow at Woodland Cemetery, followed by a Celebration of Life at the Royal Botanical Gardens. For those who wish, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Art Gallery of Hamilton would be appreciated by the family.
