After a lengthy illness, Nick passed away on Tuesday, January 20th, in his 77th year.
Nick was a devoted husband to his wife, Marianne for 55 years, a loving and cherished father to Jeff (Debbie), Karen (Dan), Steven, and Kim (Jay). He was an extremely proud Jedo to Callum, Olivia, and Ella. He will be deeply missed by his brother John (Susan), and lovingly remembered by his in-laws Michael (Rebecca) and Judy (Chris). Nick was a beloved uncle to Johnny, Kyle, Mikey, Stephanie, Kellie, and Ashley. We take comfort in knowing that he has been reunited with his parents, Janko and Dragica.
Nick was a longtime employee of Dofasco, working as a welder for 38 years. Dofasco was good to him – it helped him provide for his family and, just as importantly, gave him friendships that lasted a lifetime.
Nick loved the open road, an impulsive trip out East in his dually, or cruising the Blue Ridge Mountains on his bike. He found solitude at his trailer on Lake Nosbonsing, enjoying a coffee and a cigar while looking out over the lake.
Above all else, Nick was happiest with his family and would do anything for the people he loved.
The family would like to thank Dr. Chris Ambis, his PSW team, Evelyn Hale and Richard DeCastro, as well as the staff at Hamilton Health Sciences for their compassion, care, and guidance throughout this journey.
A special thank you to his extraordinary and loving brother John, who stood by his side every step of the way.
