Born on May 3, 1981, in Hamilton, Ontario, he was the son of Patricia Paxton and Gunars Juris Rusins. Nigel was an avid supporter of the LGBTQ community and will be remembered for his compassion and individuality.
He is survived by his father, Gunars, and stepmother, Mary Lisa Rusins; and by his siblings: Neil Paxton, Lucas Paxton, Francis Rusins, Joshua Keen, Maggie Keen, and Kristan Rusins. He was predeceased by his mother, Patricia, and his sister, Katie Davis. The family is deeply saddened by the circumstances surrounding his passing and extends sincere thanks to John Court for helping bring Nigel home.
Nigel was recently cremated. A graveside Celebration of Life will be held at Woodland Cemetery, 700 Spring Gardens Road, Burlington, on Monday, May 4, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. The family also wishes to thank his friends for their generosity in helping secure his burial plot.
