Nikola Stipanovic

Nikola Stipanovic, 80, of Hamilton Ontario, passed away peacefully on September 22, at St. Joseph’s Hospital.

He was born in Visoće, Croatia on August 26, 1945 to Andrija and Dragica Stipanovic. Nikola grew up in Rajić, Croatia.

Nikola moved to Canada in 1970 and went to work at Dofasco. He dedicated 38 years to Dofasco, retiring in 2010, and was respected for his strong work ethic.

Nikola was married to Viktorija and together they raised their children, Damir Stipanovic and Suzana Damjanovic.

Nikola is survived by his wife, Viktorija his children, Damir (Ana) Stipanovic and Suzana Damjanovic; and his grandchildren, Madeline and Isabella Damjanovic and Katarina, Matthew and Daniel Stipanovic. His sisters, Mara Šarić (late Stanko), and Dana (Pero) Čosić. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Ana Stipanovic, parents Andrija and Dragica Stipanović, Janko (Ana) Stipanovic Dragica (Antun) Stančić, Anka (Ilija) Blažević.

Heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Complex Care Unit at St. Joseph’s Hospital for their compassionate care and support, especially to Dr. Boyle and Dr. Malla.

A Private Family Visitation will be held at Markey Dermody Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Incarnation of our Blessed Lord Catholic Parish, 400 Pottruff Rd N., Hamilton, on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at 10:00 AM. Burial to follow at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Cemetery. All are welcome to celebrate Nikola's life by attending the Mass and Burial.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nikola Stipanovic's honour to Holy Cross Croatian Catholic Church or to the Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease Foundation Inc.
