He was the loving husband of Debbie Carman for 38 years, devoted father to Martyn Gabel and Jesse Gabel, and father-in-law to Emilie Caron and Shirin Gabel. Paul adored his grandson Sebastian Gabel.
He will also be fondly remembered by his two brothers and their families, David and Anita Gabel (Rod and Todd) and Bruce and Jean Gabel (Leigh and Gregory), and his sister Susan Gabel.
Paul retired in 2012 from the Toronto District School Board where he was a dedicated Psychologist.
Paul was both artistic and athletic with strong academic achievements. In 1981, from the University of British Columbia, he won the gold medal in Psychology and went on to obtain a PhD at McMaster University. He was a great photographer, a strong downhill skier and soccer player, and a fast-mover in pickleball. He loved gardening and cats, and he showed great dedication to his writing. As well, he had a fine appreciation for visual art. Those of us in the family all agree he had the most diverse taste in music ever! He will be greatly missed.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to Juravinski Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
