Mr. Peter "Dr. Julardija" Julardija

Beloved husband for 56 years to his predeceased wife Kathleeen with whom he is now reunited in eternal life and loving father to his only daughter Nancy.

Peter was born July 6, 1938 in Pobrđje, Kotor Varoš now known as Bosnia Herzegovina to Ivan Julardija and Ivka (nee Josipovic). Peter is predeceased by his two brothers and three sisters Manda (eldest), Franjo, Jure, Jela and Kata. Peter was affectionately known as “Uncle Pete” and leaves behind many nieces and nephews in Canada, Croatia and Europe whom he adored each and everyone of them.

Peter arrived in Canada on April 16, 1963 and settled in Hamilton, Ontario where he ended up meeting the love of his life Kathleen “Kathy” at a dance. They married in 1966 and remained in Hamilton, where they raised their only daughter Nancy.

Peter loved his family, friends, travel, animals and sports particularly hockey and soccer. Peter loved the outdoors especially spending time in his garden. He was very proud of the produce that he was able to grow and share with family and friends. Although a very loyal and thankful Canadian, he never forgot what this country has afforded him and his family and continued to celebrate his proud Croatian heritage. He was a devout Catholic and parishioner of Holy Cross RC Croatian church for over 50 years. He was the equipment and medical assistant for four years with Hamilton Croatia, travelling many times with the team all over the states. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to friends and neighbours. He loved to fix and figure out how things worked so he could make it better or last longer. He loved animals and was affectionately known as the “the animal whisperer”. All our family pets and children would gravitate to him including our dear cat “Lika” which he named and loved!

Thank you to Dr. Singh who showed kindness and compassion and always made time in providing my dad the best care to allow him to be able to live with dignity.

Visitation at MARKEY-DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth), on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Vigil Prayers at 8 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Cross Croatian Church, 1883 King Street East on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at 11 am. Interment will follow at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Cemetery, 681 Mud Street East, Stoney Creek.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Holy Cross Church would be appreciated by the family.
