Richard was a loving husband to Gillian, a wonderful father to Rachel & Andrew (Sara), most adored Poppa to Addison, remembered by his Stepmother Hazel, Brother-in-law Malcolm (Angela) and a loyal friend to many.
As the melody of memories flood our thoughts and hearts with happiness and gratefulness for the life we shared with him, we also find comfort that he has eternal peace in heaven playing the pipe organ, grand piano and updating the angel choir repertoire.
Richard will be missed by many including his friends, choir members, music students, soloists he accompanied, the vulnerable he would never fail to greet on his walks, and those that had the honour of caring for him. Richard loved to travel, spend time with family and friends, laugh wholeheartedly, and go to Build a Bear with Addison in addition to watching the latest Disney movies with her.
Richard's strong faith helped carry him through life and in the last few years as his health declined, his faith did not waver. Richard’s confident faith was often entwined with his favourite hymn “It is well with my soul".
Richard’s family are so grateful for those that have cared for him over many years, but especially over the last 2 years, his family MD Dr Junaid, Nurse Sherry, Dr Kazemi at the JCC who from the beginning infused the meaning of quality of life into Richard's care plan, and Vic, the kind man who always helped at the door of the JCC.
If desired, donations in honour of Richard can be made to Juravinski Cancer Centre.
A Celebration of Life in honour of Richard will take place at 2pm Saturday, March 19th 2022,
at The Meadowlands Salvation Army, 187 Stone Church Rd W, Ancaster.
