I very much enjoyed conversations with Richard during Royal Conservatory of Music sessions.  While he waited  patiently for his turn  to accompany his students during their exam,  we talked about many things.  To his  students,  Richard’ displayed a calm, gentle and encouraging  presence which was a balm for their nervous anxiety. 

Richard also enhanced a trip to Israel in which he helped us as leaders of the tour to round out musical aspects of the trip. He and Gillian brought a lot of fun and laughter to the group, as well.
Richard was a talented teacher, conductor 
and friend and I miss him.

My sincerest condolences to Gillian and family.Still have many fond memories of the days when Richard was accompanist then Music Director of the Burlington Welsh Male Chorus.Most vivid memory was our trip to Wales and England in 2006 culminating with our singing as part of an 850 member male chorus at Royal Albert Hall in London.Memory never forgotten.Now that his pain is over i can only believe he has already found another chorus to direct.May he rest in peace. We were so fortunate to enjoy Richard's many musical talents as members of Ryerson.  He was an amazing pipe organist, choir director and pianist.  As members of the East Hamilton Strings, Emma and Hannah remember Richard well as an accompanist for the orchestras and Kiwanis Music Festival.  I remember him as such a pleasant man and just knew music was in his soul.
On behalf of Emma, Hannah and Paige, we send our deepest sympathy.  We will always remember Richard fondly.  He will be missed.

Mr. Street accompanied me for my violin exams and competitions for many years as a child and teenager, and later accompanied my students. He always had a smile for everyone, and was a kind and reassuring presence in times of stress for young musicians. He played with passion and love and was endlessly patient, always willing to stay longer for extra reheasals, and staying until the end of every recital and festival to hear the final remarks and congratulate the participants. He was a true gentleman, the kindest soul, and worthy of so much praise and gratitude. My sincere condolences to all of his family. My love to you, dear Richard. 

My deepest condolences to you, Gillian and family.  I have some great memories of Richard when I sang in his choirs.  He was kind and talented and he will be missed.

I'm so grateful that Richard and I were friends and my life was all the better from our all too sporadic times together.  Praying God's blessings and His peace on Gillian, Andrew, Sara, Addison and Rachel as well as Richard's family.  "When we all get to heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be!"


I enjoyed 16 years of singing in Richard's Choir at the Senior Centre and and out at many venues in and around Burlington, ON, the memories of his leadership and love of music will stay in my heart, mind and soul forever and always.

Richard was an amazing person, and although I did not know him well, any time we spoke he was generous, kind and warm.  He was a huge part of the musical community and will be missed.  My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

In many respects, Richard Street was a “gentle giant”.  He was always kind and quietly spoken, yet so strong of faith and resolve, with an enormous gift of patience and longsuffering (which gift became particularly useful when directing his Rich Harmony Singers and Gospel Choir choristers who were a happy bunch of mostly non-credentialed music-loving seniors!)  
Richard’s musical talents and interpretations were expressed through his competence as both a choral conductor and a church organist.  I’ll never forget his amazing rendition of “Land of Hope and Glory” on the pipe organ after a well-received choral concert in west Burlington.  We could have been in London’s Royal Albert Hall.
Whatever the choral repertoire (Broadway, Gospel, Oratorio, art songs etc.) Richard was up to the task, quietly assisted by his talented wife (and soprano) Gillian, who helped keep both Richard and the choirs organized.  
I feel incredibly grateful to have journeyed along part of the choral way with Richard since about 2009 and my deepest condolences extend to Gillian and family at this time (especially to young lively granddaughter Madison!)  
Richard, who in some ways was an ”unsung” leader in his fields of expertise, will always be revered by his many friends and choristers. 
We know you’re already at work with the Celestial Choir, Richard.  Reserve some places for us … “When we all get to Heaven what a day of rejoicing that will be...”

We were so truly sorry to learn today of Richard’s death - one of nature’s true gentlemen in the very best sense of those words.   I joined the Burlington Seniors Choir just as Richard took over as choirmaster and was delighted to find him not only a consummate musician but completely friendly and helpful to us all, and with a delightful sense of humour.   I felt I had to apologize that now in my late eighties I could only sing “basso profondo “ below the rest of the choir - his happy comment - don’t worry about it - we’ll think of you as our double bass !    It is certain that Richard is now helping the heavenly choir and perhaps arranging their music - as he did with us.

Richard was a kind and friendly musician I met as he supported my mom , Kosha Braun , with her orchestra  practices at the Hamilton Board Of Education ( approx 45 years ago) . He always seemed so jolly ! Soon after  he helped so many of my private students have a positive experience performing with his very musical accompaniments and gentle supportive manner. Richard introduced me to Ryerson Church , where he was church organist and choir director, and where I taught orchestras for the HWDSB and then for my Spleit Strings Studio. We collaborated many  times, also  for services there. Always with a smile , Richard  was in his element making music.  He will be missed by many.  My condolences to Gillian, Christine, Michael and their families.

I have very fond memories of Richard leading the  choir at Appleby and of our fun times singing together in the Praise Team.  I will remember him fondly.  Holding you in my heart at this sad time.
