Robert Leigh Bierd

Peacefully at home, surrounded by love, on Wednesday, July 16, 2014. Leigh passed away in his 67th year. He joined his parents Madeline & Charlie, and sister Linda. He will live on in the hearts of his children, his pride and joy, Liz (Clive), Jason (Heather), Chad (Krista), Becky (Mike), Madeline (Preston) and his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his companion Pam Sliwinski, his brother John (Faye), sister Verlee and stepbrother John (Anna). Sadly missed by his best friends Sandy, Gerry and Eleanor. Leigh was born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario. He began working as an ironworker and later joined TRW as a welder where he retired last year. Leigh was an avid photographer, golfer and all around fun loving man. His love and laughter will be fondly remembered by his enormous group of friends. The family would like to thank his support system, Dr. Tytus, MJ, Dr. Ghert, Dr. Tozer, Dr. Bertothy, nurse Jodi, everyone at JCC and the palliative care home team especially nurse Bonnie for all their amazing care and compassion given to Dad. Friends and family are invited to share in memories of Leigh with the family at CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME - “FENNEL CHAPEL”, 322 Fennell Avenue East, Hamilton on Monday, July 21, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Wellwood Centre would be appreciated.
