Rosemary was an inspiration to all who knew her as an artist, poet, sculptor, gardener and avid traveler. Her paintings grace the walls of many homes. Her poetry, both published and not, will live on. Her gardens brought joy and awe to hundreds who visited during open garden tours and was a lifelong member of the Flamborough Horticultural Society. Mom has treasures collected from more than 80 countries that she visited around the world.
Rosemary was a career woman, long before it was vogue. She worked for the Federal Government in the Food and Drug Directorate for many years (in fact, she ran it!) until she retired in 1990.
Rosemary was the daughter of Elvin and Norah Pond. She was predeceased by her dearly loved sisters, Pat Bresnahan and Shelagh Chapman and her brother, Larry Pond. We always referred to Mom and her sisters as the three musketeers.
We were blessed to have had Rosemary with us for more than 104 years. Her daughters, Clover (Bob), Janine, Shelley and Heather (Chuck) were thankful to have her for their mother, friend and mentor. She will be missed by her 9 grandchildren (predeceased by Kimmie), 11 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. As well as her many nieces and nephews.
We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to her remarkable PSWs who created "Team Rosemary". They helped keep her independent over the past few years, and able to stay in her own home which was her dearest wish and kept her comfortable during her final journey. We also would like to thank Dr. Adam Norris for his unwavering care and the Community Paramedic team that monitored and visited her.
We invite you to a Celebration of Life for this remarkable woman on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 11 a.m. at Highland Hills Faith Community (formerly St. Mark's), 1 Lynndale Drive, Dundas. Cremation has taken place and interment of her ashes will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Simcoe in the Pond family plot at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Markey-Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King Street East, Hamilton. Online condolences can be made at www.markeydermody.com.
