Ruth Elaine Kocanovic

After a 10 year valiant battle with cancer, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family at the Juravinski Hospital on April 13, 2012 at the age of 58. Beloved wife of Slobodan “Bob” for 33 years. Cherished and devoted mother to Allison Kocanovic (Mike), Danielle Kocanovic (Matt). She will be sadly missed by her sister Linda Sharp (Ken), and brother Glen Hillock, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Elaine had many passions in life, including cooking fantastic meals and sharing time with family while watching football, curling, or hockey. Her true passion was nursing, starting at the age of 18 with the Hamilton General Hospital. Elaine took some time away from nursing but her strength and determination to help others was always foremost in her heart. After going back to school to update her certificates, she once again was able to help people, during her time at The Rosslyn and Arbour Creek Nursing Homes, where she will be sadly missed. Family and Friends will be received at the Markey Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth) on Tuesday April 17th from 6-9pm. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday April 18th at 11 am. Interment in Chapel Hill Cemetery to follow. Donations to the Juravinski Hospital would be greatly appreciated by the family.
