Lifted by the love of her family and friends and with her husband by her side, our beautiful Sabrina passed away on Friday, May 6, 2022 at the age of 51. Cherished and devoted wife of Peter for 28 years. Adored mother of Michael and Chelsea. Dearly loved daughter of Luciana and the absolute best sister to Jennifer. Loved sister-in-law of Mike, Mary, John and Ana (Mike). Special aunt of Aaron, Karina and Adriana. Friend to many. Welcoming her into Heaven with open arms are her beloved father Ernesto and dear in-laws Tony and Ana.
Sabrina grew up in Hamilton as part of a wonderful Italian family with many aunts, uncles and cousins. She settled in Dundas with Peter to raise their happy family. Intelligent and inquisitive from the beginning, Sabrina graduated with Honours from McMaster University and University of Toronto, fulfilling her lifelong dream of becoming a teacher. Working at the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board for 25 years, she was a cherished member of the staff at Nora Frances Henderson Secondary School. Sabrina was passionate about teaching math and the success and well-being of her students was so important to her.
With her contagious smile and kind heart, Sabrina led an authentic, honest life and made everyone feel welcomed and comfortable. If you were lucky enough to know her, you loved her. She gave selflessly of herself to anyone who needed her help, and she was always our biggest cheerleader. Family meant everything to her, and she was an amazing mother. The very best of Sabrina can be seen in Michael and Chelsea – her sense of compassion, thoughtfulness, strength, generosity, joy and goodness live on in them.
We extend our deep appreciation to the truly wonderful doctors, nurses and staff on C3 at Juravinski Hospital. The compassion and care that you showed to Sabrina during her battle with pancreatic cancer will never be forgotten. A special thank you to Marianne, Tammy and Mary for your unwavering support, friendship and love.
Visitation at the MARKEY-DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth) on Thursday, May 12, 2022 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 165 Prospect Street North, on Friday, May 13, 2022 at 10 a.m. Entombment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
