Sonja June Halyk

Loving mom of Lisa Pinheiro (Alex) and Mark Halyk (the late Jo-Ann) and proud Baba to Kyle and Ryan. Predeceased by her husband Sid (2015) and her twin sister Janet (Jenny) Rudyk. She is survived by her sister Helen Partridge. Affectionately known as “Chuch”, she will be deeply missed by her many nieces and nephews and her dear friends, Shirley Hinkley and Joan Smith.

Sonja spent most of her life devoted to her family and friends. She was a founding member of the Church of the Resurrection where she actively volunteered for many years and was a cherished friend to all. She is perhaps best known for her generous spirit, unconditional love and pure kindness, as well as her infamous Ukrainian cooking (and large portions).

Visitation will take place at the Cresmount Funeral Home – Fennell Chapel on Monday, January 29th, 2024 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Panachyda at 7 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at The Church of the Resurrection, 821 Upper Wentworth Street on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at 10 a.m. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery. A luncheon will be held in the church hall.
