Loving father of Jillain, Lesley and Charles. Cherished grandfather of Camryn, Bryn, Ava, Mia, Eric, Cayden and Trey. Dear brother of Kathy and Mary Ellen. Survived by his parents Mary (McKinnon) and Robert John Charlton.
Tom Charlton was many things, but above all he was fully alive. He faced his battle with cancer, the same way he lived his life – stubborn, determined, and unwilling to quit. He never accepted his limits, easily, whether they came from life, illness, or anyone else. He was always ready for what came next, always up for something, always pushing forward.
Known for his sarcasm and dry wit, Tom also had a big heart – one that cared deeply, loved fiercely and gave generously. He was proud of his children beyond words and loved his family loyally. His guidance and laughs will continue to shape us, long after his passing.
Thomas carried an entrepreneurial spirit— always thinking, creating, building and dreaming. He wasn’t afraid to take risks, try something new or go his own way. That strong courage to live boldly and authentically is one of his greatest legacies.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life for Thomas will be held at a later date. If so desired, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice in Hamilton would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences can be made at www.markeydermody.com.
