

Surrounded by those who loved him most, our beloved Husband, Father (Tato), and Grandfather (Dido), ended his earthly journey. Left to mourn his passing, with profound sadness, are his devoted wife Olya, sons – William, Oleksa, Konstantyn, Yuri, Ostap (Vicky) and Andrij and grandchildren – William, Jessica and Elizabeth. A 43-year Stelco employee, some of Victor’s attributes and talents included: Master joke teller, Athlete: (hockey, soccer (Tryzub, Ukraina), 2nd stringer for Hamilton Ti-Cats and perhaps his most lasting legacy – Music. A Spinto tenor, Opera Singer, performed with the Canadian Opera Company,Soloist with the Mohawk College Singers, Canadian Youth Ensembles, Toronto Capella Bandurist Choir, Ukrainian Bandurist Chorus - Detroit, Dumka Choir - New York, performance in Carnegie Hall, Prometheus Ensemble, also the honour of performing for Pope Paul VI, and was awarded the designation of Merited Artist of Ukraine. A humble, generous man who loved and was grateful to his adopted country, but never forgot his birthplace – Poltava, Ukraine. Family and friends in Ukraine and around the world also mourn his passing. Family and friends are welcome to visitation at St Nicholas Ukrainian Church, 260 Melvin Avenue, on Sunday May 29th from 4-8pm, with Panachyda at 6pm and Monday May 30th From 6-8:30pm with Panachyda at 7:30pm. Funeral Service will be held at St Nicholas Ukrainian Church, 260 Melvin Avenue on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at 10am with interment in Woodland Cemetery to follow. In Victors memory, memorial donations to the Victor Sheweli Music Scholarship Fund would be greatly appreciated.
