Surrounded by love and great dignity, (Walter) Bruce Brown, at the age of 75, slipped away from life after a courageous battle against leukemia, on Wednesday, September 30th, 2015, at the Bob Kemp Hospice in Hamilton. Bruce will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of 47 years, Nancy. He was the proud dad to Andy (Faith) and Kim (Harry), much loved Grandpa to Aidan, Greer, Rowen and Tae, and brother to Don of Victoria B.C. He also leaves behind a large group of friends that have made wonderful memories with him over the years. From the age of 20, Bruce’s career was in finance. In 1969, be joined the Royal Bank of Canada. In 1983, he relocated from Sudbury to Hamilton to become the manager of retail banking and operations. He would later become the Branch Manager. In 1989, he took on the huge undertaking of starting Private Banking for Wealth Management for The Royal Bank. He retired from his financial career in 1998. After retiring, his greatest working fulfillment came from his over 10 years of volunteer driving for the Canadian Cancer Society. He and Nancy also enjoyed traveling to Europe with friends; their most favourite trip of all was the drive across Canada in September of 2013 to take a special doll house, which Bruce had built, to their granddaughters in Vancouver The family would like to thank the village of friends and family that have surrounded them in the last six months with much love, kindness and respect. We would also like to thank the very special nursing team on C4 at the Juravinski Hospital, VON, and all those who had a part in his care. Finally, a very special thank you to the Bob Kemp Hospice for filling Bruce’s last weeks with compassion, dignity, laughter, support, and the very best of care. They made our family’s transition through this difficult time the best it could be. Cremation has already taken place, and visitation will occur at Cresmount Funeral Home, 322 Fennell Ave. E. on Sunday October 4th from 2pm - 5pm. A service of remembrance will take place at Chedoke Presbyterian Church, 865 Mohawk Rd. W., on Sunday October 18, 2015 at 2pm. If you wish to make a donation in Bruce’s memory, please do so to Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice. We as a family would be very appreciative of this as we could not have asked for a better place to end his journey. kemphospice.org/donate
