Walter Goral

Peacefully on March 15, 2014 at Macassa Lodge, in his 96th year. Beloved husband of 68 years of Olha (nee Ptaschnyk). Loving father of Deanna and Susan (David) Denholm. Loved Gigi of Tanya (Wally) Tymkiv, Andrey (Erin) Galan, Ryan Denholm, Krista (Kostya) Naboka and Great Gigi of Andrew and Tiana Tymkiv, Malia and Zenen Galan, Anastasya and Aleksandra Naboka. Walter is predeceased by brothers and sisters in Ukraine. He will be missed by his sister Domka in Poland and many nieces and nephews in Ukraine. It is difficult to encapsulate the life of any man, but Walter would especially wish to be remembered for his Ukrainian heritage. He emigrated to Canada, with Olha, in 1949. He was a proud Canadian, but he maintained his love of Ukraine throughout his life. Walter was a soldier in WWII as part of the British 8th army and a long time employee of CN Rail from which he retired with over 30 years of service. Family will greet friends at MARKEY-DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, on Monday, March 17 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm with Panachyda at 7pm. Funeral Service will be held at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 260 Melvin Avenue, on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at 10am. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Special thanks to all the staff at Macassa Lodge, Ward A2, for their kindness, compassion and professional care extended to Walter and the family. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
