

DUFFIELD – William (Bill) Alfred – Born in High Wycombe, Bucks, England, passed away at The Macassa Lodge in Hamilton on Sunday March 27, 2011 in his 90th year. Re-united with his beloved wife Renee (nee Houghton). Much loved father to sons; Royston (Pauline) of England, Alan (Pauline) of Hamilton and Ian William (Louise) of Calgary. Sadly missed by daughter Andree (Brian) Pearson of Hamilton. Cherished grandfather to 11, great-grandfather to 15 and G.G. grandfather to 1. Dear brother to Edd of Ingatestone Essex and sister Margaret of Shepton Mallet Somerset. Predeceased by brother James and sister Edith, both of England. Bill was a proud WW11 Veteran with the Royal Engineers and took part in the D-day invasion and the Liberation of France, Holland and Belgium. After coming to Canada later in life, Bill was a Stelco employee in the general stores. He loved the outdoors in the family trailer with many friends at Shores Acres Park in Port Dover. He also enjoyed wintering for years in Florida. The family would like to extend a very special thanks to the wonderful staff on E2 at Macassa Lodge for all their care and compassion, always above the call of duty. Thanks for always making sure Bill had his cup of tea. He loved the staff and final words to them are “Bloody Hell.” As per Bill’s wish, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME 322 Fennell Ave. E. on Friday April 1st from 2p.m. until service time in the chapel at 3p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of choice in Bill’s name would be appreciated by the family
