Loving father to Walter (Alice) and Nancy (Scott). Proud and cherished dziadzia to Stephanie, Nicholas, Jessica and Erica. Predeceased by parents Wladyslaw and Katarzyna, brother Marian and sister Halina. Survived by brothers Stanislaw and Jozef of Poland. Zenon will be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends in Canada, Poland and the United States. Born in Poland, Zenon came to Canada in 1965 with his wife, learned a new language and earned his professional licence as an industrial electrician. A career-long member of the United Steelworkers of America, Zenon worked at Slater Steel (formerly Burlington Steel) for most of his career, retiring in 2001. Proud of his heritage, Zenon was very active in the Polish-Canadian community. He was a decades-long volunteer and distinguished member of the Polish Alliance of Canada, the Polonia Club, and the Knights of Columbus. In 2017, he was honoured to earn the Gold Award of Merit from the Canadian Polish Congress in recognition of his contributions to the Polish-Canadian community. He enjoyed adventure, fishing, travelling, gardening, auto mechanics and was an avid fixer of anything.
Visitation at MARKEY-DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth) on Wednesday, February 1st from 5-8 pm with Rosary at 5:30 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Stanislaus Kostka Polish Catholic Church, 8 St. Ann Street, on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at 12 noon. Entombment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Zenon's memory may be made to St. Stanislaus Kostka Polish Church.
