She was a member of Sharon Baptist Church and was involved in several church committees and activities. She had worked for the Maida Company as a machine operator.
She was predeceased by her parents: James Adams & Dorethia Dingess-Smith. Surviving family members include her husband of fifty-one years, George W. Banks, Jr.; daughters, Vanessa Dixson (Raymond), Teresa Belgrave (Valentine), Sharon Banks and Alfreda LaCroix; grandchildren, Tiffanie Belgrave, Bridgett LaCroix, Valentine Belgrave, Isaac Dixson, Kelly Banks, Angel Dixson, Keysha Belgrave, Kenneth Belgrave, Daniel Dixson and Joi Dixson; great grandchildren, Jamya Joffrion, Xiare Amaker and Elijah Dixson; brother, James Adams, Jr.; sister, Cheryl Adams and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
A celebration of Alfreda's life will be held on Friday, September 21, 2012 at 11:00 am at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. Entombment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park.
