

Alice was born in Greensboro, N.C. on July 7, 1931. On May 9, 1948, she married Christopher Columbus McMillian. They were married for 37 years until his passing in 1985. They raised 3 daughters (Nolia, Frances, and Cecilia) while she followed her husband around the world during his service in both the Army and Air Force.
Alice graduated from W.B. Wicker High School in Sanford, N.C. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior in her mid-teens and was later called into the ministry in the 1960’s. In 1963 the family joined Tempting Congregational Church in Sanford, N.C.
She and her husband attended Hood Theological Seminary in Salisbury, N.C. Then Alice was ordained by a council of 12 churches and was sent to serve as interim pastor of Mt. Gilead Congregational Church. After serving there, she returned to Tempting Congregational Church and became director of the children’s Christian Endeavor Program for many, many years.
During this time, she was also a seamstress instructor at Central Carolina Technical Institute; she had her own seamstress business, and she obtained an associate degree in Art. She moved to Virginia in 1987. Immediately she began a gospel tape ministry, and she personally wrote and distributed salvation literature until her passing. She also faithfully attended Langley Air Force Base Chapel until her health declined.
She was preceded in death by her husband Christopher McMillian, daughter Frances Maria Hooker, grandson Duane Worthy, and granddaughter Hedda McMillian-Monroe. She is survived by her daughters Nolia McMillian-Anderson and Cecilia McMillian-Edwards in Hampton, VA. Alice was blessed to live to see 5 generations that included 10 grandchildren and a multitude of great and great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 23, 2026 at 11:00 AM for a visitation at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home in the chapel, located at 2551 N. Armistead Ave., Hampton, VA. 23666. A Celebration of Life Service will follow after the visitation, at the same location in the Chapel. The interment will follow the service, at Hampton Memorial Gardens, 155 Butler Farms Rd. Hampton, VA. 23666.
