Aria was born in Greenville County, and she later moved to Hampton, VA where she studied and began a 15-year career in nursing at Medic Home Nursing Facility. She later went on to Newport News Shipyard where she was employed for 14.5 years. She then rounded out her employment history working security at Howmet Industries and Rite Aid until retirement. During her working history, she never let go of her passion for nurturing others and touching countless lives along the way.
Aria was baptized at an early age at Zion Baptist Church in East End Newport News and attended regularly until moving on to The First Baptist End Church on Wickham Ave.
She had an immense passion for ceramics, and it was both her hobby and a way she passed time and relaxed. She created many masterpieces to decorate her home with, which can still be seen as of today.
Beyond her immediate family, Aria’s influence extended far and wide. She embraced a whole village of sons, daughters, and grandchildren, nurturing and guiding them with care and wisdom throughout her lifetime. She built bonds that transcended bloodlines, creating a family that will forever hold her love in their hearts.
Family was everything to her, so she and her siblings always got together on weekends to gather at each other’s houses for dinner, card games, and having lots of fun. Often, “family” included everyone in the neighborhood, as well.
Her memories will remain a beacon of joy and inspiration, living on in the hearts of all those fortunate enough to have known her. Her kindness, strength, and unwavering love have left an indelible mark that time cannot erase. May her memory be a blessing, and may the love she shared continue to shine brightly in the lives of everyone she touched.
Aria leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and a life well-lived. Cherished by her family, she is survived by her beloved sons, Reginal J. Carpenter and Gregory D. Carpenter Sr., along with Gregory’s wife, Dana. Her grandson, Gregory D. Carpenter Jr., and her two great-grandsons, Landyn Carpenter and Zuriel Carpenter, carry forward her light and spirit.
A Visitation will be held on Friday May 16th from 5-8 PM at Parklawn Wood Funeral Home, located at 2551 N. Armistead Ave, Hampton VA 23666. A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday May 17, 2025 at 11:30 AM at Parklawn Wood Funeral Home, immediately followed by a burial at Parklawn Wood Memorial Park.
