She was a native of New Jersey and a Hampton resident for over 50 years. She was an avid bowler, holding highest average for women on the Peninsula for several years in the 1960s. She became one of the first female welding supervisors in the Newport News Shipyard with 25 years of employment and retiring in 1995. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, her bowling trips, and the Redskins.
Ms. Massie is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lewis L. Massie, Jr. and her daughter, Cheryl Massie. Left to cherish her memory are her two children, Sam Massie and his wife Cindy, Brenda Deuell and her husband Chris all of Hampton; four grandchildren, Nicole Hill, Todd Deuell, Sammy Massie, Brian Deuell; five great grandchildren, Bella, Caleb, Christopher, Oliver, and Callie; and her dog and faithful companion Jay Jay.

The family will receive friends from to 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Friday, September 28, 2018 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home and Memorial Park. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, September 29, at Parklawn Memorial Park.
