

He was born in St. Louis, MO but was a resident of Hampton for many years. Brian retired from the Navy as an IT1 in 2012 after 20 years of service. During his time in the Navy, he received three Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals; two Navy Sea Service Deployment Ribbons; Naval Reserve Sea Service Ribbon, five Good Conduct Medals, two National Defense Service Medals, three Navy "E" Ribbons, Navy Unit Commendation, a Navy Pistol Marksmanship Ribbon; and also received recognition as an Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist and Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist.
Brian was well known for being a musician and recording engineer at Lone Wolf Studio; and enjoyed riding his motorcycle.
He is preceded in death by his father, William D. "Dub" Wohlschlegel; and his grandparents. Brian is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Katie J. Smith-Wohlschlegel; sons, Daniel of Patuxent, MD, Andrew of Virginia Beach, VA, Aaron of Virginia Beach, VA, and Nathan of Virginia Beach, VA; mother, Shirley P. Wohlschlegel (née Hurst); sisters, Karla Schedlbauer (Kent) of Minneapolis, MN, Mary Maloney (Tom), and Emily Clifton; nieces and nephews, Kurtis Myeburger, Jacob Schoemehl, Lorna Schoemehl, Erika Schoemehl, and Brandon Clifton; many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins in Kansas and Arkansas; and his four footed furbabies, cats "Alex Lifeson" and "Murray Slaughter".
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Ave., Hampton, VA, 23666. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 AM at Parklawn Memorial Park's Chapel Mausoleum.
