He left behind his son Steve Drake and his wife Jannette, of Henrico, VA; and his daughter Carrie Vaughn and her husband Carl of Chester, VA; as well as a total of four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
His beloved wife Kathy, his middle child Marc Drake, of Richmond, VA; and his parents, Roy Lee Drake and Edith Phillips Drake of Franklin, VA, went before him in death.
Among the other loves of his life were the family pet, a Blue and Gold Macaw named Schooner, sailing, golf, and Jimmy Buffet’s music. But nothing could compare with Kathy. She was truly his soulmate for life. He loved the ocean and was fortunate to make many great friends as he and Kathy traveled in their sailboat, visiting other towns, cities, and islands.
A celebration of life will be held in Carl’s home on Sunday, September 10, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
