Caroline Celia Ellis

Our Mother flew to Heaven in the early hours of Monday, April 17, 2017 to be with our Dad. Caroline was born on December 18, 1933 in Nitro, West Virginia and graduated from Nitro High School in 1951. She was the daughter of the late Clifford and Gleyon Cole. Caroline was a lifelong resident of Hampton and retired after a civil service career from the Army with the Junior ROTC Scholarships Program with the Cadet Command at Ft. Monroe, VA.

Caroline loved spending time at the beach and working on her arts and crafts along with caring for all her pets she cherished during her life. Most of all she enjoyed spending as much time as possible with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Caroline was preceded in rest by her husband of 59 years, Jerry Ellis; brothers, Clifford and James Cole; and sister, Mary Ann Taylor. Surviving members of her family include her children, Christine (Siggi), Charles (Duna), Lisa (David), and Celia (Wes). Caroline had six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 21, 2017 from 12:00 to 1:00 PM at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. Following visitation, a service remembering Caroline’s life will be held at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park.
