She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and had been a leader in the Rosary Group. In the 1990’s, she retired from a 40 year career in jewelry sales with Barclay and Son’s Jewelry and Charlie’s Jewelry.
Preceding her in rest is her husband, Charles Evans Hughes, and son, Kenneth M. Hughes. Surviving members of her family include her children, Mary Ann Leake and husband Robert of Carrollton, and Robert J. Hughes of Newport News; and granddaughter, Amanda Leake of Carrollton.
The family will receive friends Thursday afternoon, January 3, 2013, from 4:00 to 6:00, at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday morning, January 4, 2013, at 10:00, graveside in Parklawn Memorial Park.
