In 1972 he graduated from Kecoughtan High School. He began his working career as a fast-food location manager and then worked for Howmet and then the City of Hampton in the Public Works Department. He was a member of Langley Baptist Church.
Preceding him in rest are his grandparents. Surviving members of his family include his parents, Mildred Chaney and Charles Kersey, Sr.; sister, Diana Kersey Atkinson and husband Jason; nephew, JT; and an uncle in Germany and two aunts in Mississippi.
The family will receive friends Tuesday morning, July 3, 2012, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. Following the visitation, a service celebrating Ched’s life will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in Parklawn Memorial Park.
