Christine Grace Ausink, 74, passed away late on Wednesday evening, July 30, 2025, at her home in Hampton, Virginia. She finished her earthly fight against leukemia and is now in the glorious presence of her Lord Jesus Christ! Praise Jesus!
She was born the daughter of Charles Archibald and Arta Arleen Pincombe on April 18, 1951, in Buffalo, New York. The family moved to Simsbury, Connecticut, where Cris and her older brother, Calvin, grew up as proud New Englanders. After graduating from Simsbury High School, she studied at Bethel College in St. Paul, Minnesota. While at Bethel, she was actively involved in an African American church where she and her friends encountered the Lord in powerful ways. Cris was a deeply committed follower of Jesus.
She was united in marriage to Robert Leroy Ausink at Grace Chapel in Houston, Texas, on December 23, 1978. They began their 46 years of marriage as Christian missionaries in the Philippines where they served for seven years. After leaving the Philippines, they eventually settled in Hampton,Virginia, where they raised their four sons and served in the local church. Even though Cris no longer lived abroad, her passion for missions and the nations continued through devoted prayer, intercession, support, and short term trips.
After raising her four sons, she worked for the city of Hampton educating all ages in environmental stewardship of God’s earth. Cris coordinated clean-ups and rain barrel workshops, and advocated for the improvement and maintenance of storm water drainage systems. She actively and frequently picked up trash, helping to keep her city clean!
Cris loved being outside! She thoroughly enjoyed kayaking, bird watching, gardening, traveling, creating beauty, and telling stories of God’s goodness. Thank You God for your beloved daughter Christine Ausink! She will be deeply missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents Charles Archibald (1999) and Arta Arleen (1976) Pincombe and her grandson Zev Francisco Ausinheiler (2021).
