Clara Louise Holloway "Nana" began her heavenly journey with her Lord and savior Jesus Christ on May 30, 2015. Houston and Minnie White were blessed with the birth of Louise on September 30, 1929 in Sylacauga, Alabama. Preceded in death by her parents Houston and Minnie White, husband Frank W. Holloway, daughter Sharon Ann Blaker, her husband Thomas Blaker, their daughter Melissa Blaker; brothers Bloise White, Oneil White, sister Jewel Morris of Sylacauga, Alabama.
Survived by her son Darrell "Butch" Holloway and his wife Barbara, daughter Linda Sue Myers, her husband Alfred; grandchildren Buddy Myers, Marcie Holloway, John Myers, Marc Holloway Sr., and Michael Blaker; great grandchildren Zachary Holloway, Paris Holloway, Marc Holloway Jr. "Little Marc", Madelyn Myers, Kenzie Myers, and Jason Blaker; brother Oliver White (Joann); sisters Mavis Pinkard and Elsie Arnett, of Sylacauga, Alabama
A resident of the Peninsula for 53 years, Louise was employed in the restaurant field as manager and waitress until disabled in 1989. Her patrons from The Virginian, The Red Ox, and Steak & Eggs affectionately remember her as "Louise" the tall friendly lady with red hair and a beautiful smile.
Living with her son Darrell and his wife Barbara for 25 years proved to be a true blessing for all. When Mother "Buttercup" was able, she enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening, and watching birds, squirrels, and rabbits from the patio. Her scratch recipes were coveted by many. She enjoyed compliments for her cooking, flair for fashion, and lack of any gray hair. She loved her family, friends, hugs, phone calls, holding hands, “I love you's”, milk shakes, and the old gospel song "All God's Children Got Shoes".
The family thanks the staff of Gentle Care Inc. especially PCA Margaret Palmer for her nearly five years of exceptional care, PCA Mildred Knowlin, and Sentara nurse Jennifer Young for their compassionate care.
The family will receive friends Thursday June 4, 6:00-8:00pm at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will be conducted on Friday June 5 at 2:00 pm by Pastor Paul Eure; interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
