

Claude Warren Corbett of Hampton entered into heavenly rest Thursday, September 3, 2015. He was born on November 24, 1920 in Troy, NC to the late Claude C. and Fannie A. Corbett. The family moved to the area during the depression. Claude attended Hampton High School where he played football. He loved Buckroe Beach as a young boy. He later worked at the amusement park and also managed the Paramount Theater in Newport News. He joined the Army/Air Force and was a veteran of WWII. Claude worked for the National Biscuit Company and retired after 35 years of service. He was a member of Hampton Baptist Church and the Berean SS Class.
Claude was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Betty Medford Corbett; sisters, Lillines Ward, Leona Thompson; and son-in-law, Donny M. Barbour. He is survived by his daughters, Claudette Duffer of South Boston, Roberta Ewing of Bedford, KY, and Joanne Barbour of Hampton; grandchildren, Matt Duffer (Tori), Tim Duffer (Kristy), Micah Ewing (Cathy), Corby Ewing (Emily), Beth Moore (Patrick), and Talmadge Barbour; great-grandchildren, Addyson and Hadleigh Duffer, Heather and Allison Duffer, Jonah, Aaron and Clara Ewing, Asa and Edy Ewing, Tristen Barbour, and Savanah Moore; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A family graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, September 6, 2015 at Parklawn Memorial Park. A celebration of Claude’s life will be held at 2:00 pm at Hampton Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Dr. Elizabeth Pugh Mills and Dr. Chester Brown. A reception will immediately follow at the church.
