

Clyde Franklin Estes, 86, of Hampton passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday August 31, 2021. He was born and raised in Danville and moved to Hampton in 1961 with his young family to work at the Newport News Shipyard. After leaving the shipyard Clyde went on to co-own Blake and Bass Seafood Co. until his retirement. He was an active member of Saint Mark’s United Methodist Church in Hampton, a member of the Shriners and the Masons (St Tammany Lodge). Clyde volunteered tirelessly for all manner of church activities, especially the men’s club.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Kemp and Blanche McGuire Estes; brothers James, Marvin and Warren; and sisters Marie Moore and Virginia Jefferson. Clyde is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Elnora (Watson) of Climax VA; daughters Sandra Barrett (E.C.) and Terri Boyd (David); grandchildren, Mills Barrett, Bryce Barrett (Moni), Kate Boyd, Ellen Boyd, Mary Boyd; numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, and many lifetime friends in Hampton and beyond.
The family would like to thank the Riverside Hospice staff that cared for him, especially Cindy and the exceptional care provided in the home by dear Marie.
A funeral service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday September 4, 2021 at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church 99 East Mercury Blvd Hampton, VA 23669. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
