Cynthia D. Strode, 63, passed away March 29, 2018 after courageous battles with cancer. Her strong faith gave her purpose in this life and now joy in Heaven. A native of Fox Hill, VA, Cindy graduated from Kecoughtan High School in 1972 and Christopher Newport College in Biology. She worked at Ft. Eustis Army Hospital and Anheuser-Busch quality lab.
Cindy is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Christman; grandchildren, Alexis, Haley and Taylor of Williamsburg; Jennifer's father, Calvin Coates of Gloucester; caregiver, Ben Hudson; sisters, Linda Brown, Nita Waldroup, Cathy Strode; other sister, Tammy Sommer; and brother, Walter Strode and wife, Linda (Wallace). She also cherished Nicole Jacobson, Chris Holder, Jessica, Anna, Curtis Hudson and spouses; three other grandchildren; and other loving family and friends. She is predeceased by parents, Walter and Ida Mae Strode. We also remember Evelyn "Sally" Decker, Bill Matthews, Elmer Waldroup, and Ed LeGette.
A celebration of Cynthia's life will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2018, starting at 12:00 noon at St. Luke's Methodist Church, 300 Ella Taylor Road, Yorktown.
In lieu of flowers, support cancer survivors or the Good Samaritan Fund of St. Luke's.
Cindy enjoyed baking cakes for others, ballroom dancing with Ben, and feeding the backyard birds. Special thanks to neighbors, nurses Shannon Waldroup, Donna Terry, and 17 years of care from Virginia Oncology.
