

David C. Jenkins, 87, of Watson, West Virginia and a resident of Hampton, Virginia for the past 45 years passed away suddenly at Sentara Hospital with his daughter and son-in-law by his side. He was a retired Air Force Master Sergeant, who proudly served for 27 years. David was drafted into the Army at the age of 18, later branching off into the Army Air Corps and then the Air Force; he was a Veteran of WW II, Korea and Vietnam. He was proud of his military service and loved talking about his many adventures in the military. After retiring from the Air Force in 1972, he went to work as a Postal Carrier and a Federal Protection Officer. He was a member of the Warwick Moose club where he enjoyed fellowship with many friends.
Preceding him in death was his wife of 31 years, Joan Jenkins, his daughter, Janice Vargas, three grandchildren, Justin, Jesse and Collette Haapanen and his parents, Roscoe Jenkins and Ethel Prunty. He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter, Rebecca Green (Bruce) of Hampton, son, Charles Jenkins (Lydia) of Frederick Maryland, grandchildren, Jennifer Jenkins, Scott Jenkins, and Sara Vargas, and two sisters, Phyllis and Shirley Clayton.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses and staff at Commonwealth Assisted Living, we are so grateful for the outstanding care, compassion and friendship our father received while living there.
The family will receive friends at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 4, from 10 to 11 AM with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 am. Interment will be in Hampton-Veterans Memorial Gardens.
