Donald York

Donald R. York, age 87, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 20, 1932 in New Kensington, Pennsylvania to William and Jennie York. He married the love of his life Maureen Whitby York, from Liverpool England, on July 21st 1956. He served 20 years in the United States Airforce and he retired from Virginia Power. He loved spending time with his family. He was a faithful and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He faithfully attended New Covenant Church for 43 years where he served as a deacon and treasurer. He is survived by his two daughters Donna Britt (Jerry), Tracie Brown (Larry), four grandchildren, Laura Welton (Richard), Matthew Cross (Ashton), Brian Dunn (Pamela), Phillip Dunn (Marisa). He has six great grandchildren. He will forever be remembered for his kindness expecting nothing in return. During his illness he was surrounded by his loving family and devoted caretaker, David Harris, and received the same love and kindness that he had so freely given through the years. The family will receive friends from 6:00- 8:00 p.m. Sunday, November 3rd, 2019 at Parklawn-Wood funeral home, 2251 N. Armistead Ave. Hampton Virginia. The funeral service will be held at New Covenant Church Monday, November 4th, 2019 at 12:30 pm. New Covenant Church is located at 1079 Big Bethel Road Hampton, Virginia 23666.
