Doris passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at York Convalescent Center after a very long illness. Doris was a true angel on earth. She literally gave the shirt off her back to those in need. Although she and daddy weren’t rich monetarily, they were rich in many other ways. In the early days of CBN, mother (and daddy) volunteered at the station and helped to bring many people to Christ. Mother (and daddy) were instrumental in helping to establish several churches in Hampton, Newport News and York County.
Doris is predeceased by her parents, Ira and Mary Pitt of Walden, NY; her husband, Howard Warren; son, Howard Douglas; sisters, Blanch, Clara, Millie and Lillian; and brothers, Edgar, Lester, Bill and Leonard. Doris is survived by her loving and dedicated daughter, Sharon Ford Lester (David) and their son, Jonathan (Parise), son, Jerry Brian Ford (Terri) and Terri’s daughter, Nina; granddaughters, Shannon Ford Woolwine (Woods); granddaughter, Jennifer Ford Berberich (Joe); great grandson, E. A. Woolwine; great-granddaughter, London Alexus Lester; and many nieces and nephews.
Our family would like to offer our sincere thanks for the care and comfort that the staff of York Convalescent Center gave to Doris. Special thanks to Suzanne, Desiree and Michelle. Also, heartfelt love and gratitude to Chaplain Dave, and Traci and Kelsey of Heartland Hospice; mom always cherished your visits.
