I didn't have much time to share with your family.  But you all touched my heart with the love and devotion you showed your husband and father.  He was obviously a loving man.  His body is now whole.  Take care of each other.

I didn't have the opportunity to work with you and your family for very long, but in the brief period of time I spent in your home, I was touched by the love your grown children showed their dad.  They were obviously raised by loving parents.  Your husband was a doll.  You and your family are in my thoughts.

I had the privilege of working with Mac for several years when he was the Youth Director at Langley.  His tremendous personality always made for an entertaining environment on any project our team was involved in.  As a young person just coming into the workforce, Mac taught me that we could still get the job done AND have fun at the same time.  He will be truly missed.

I had the priviledge of serving with Chief Mac from 1976 to 1980 at Hdq TAC (LGS). During that time we went on many staff visits throughout the command and I came to depend on him for his expertise and knowledge which he readily shared with the units. His sense of humor was infectious and always took the pressure off any tense situations we might encounter. Socially Chief Mac and I did a lot of clamming and fishing near Plum Tree Island at the mouth of the East Back River. Great fun and we never came in empty handed. A great guy. I have great momories. I worked down the hall from Chief McLellan at HQ TAC in the 1980s.  He gave us so many laughs!  I know he will be missed.  Over the years, I have remembered his humor.

Melba and Family,
 I was deeply saddened  to read of Mac's passing this past week. As the MWR Officer at Langley from Aug 1979-May 1983, I had the pleasure of working with him on numerous occasions and benefitted from his wisdom, knowledge and leadership. He was a tremendous asset to the Air Force and touched so many lives throughout his career. I feel honored and blessed to have had him as my friend.

Melba Lou,
How the years have flown. It doesn't seem like a lifetime since we were growing up in Robeson County and double dating...then having our paths connect again in Hampton. 
Betty Lou & Bart joing me in sending our love to you and your family.  Preston was such a special gift to all of us and we have been blessed by having him touch our loves.

The Air Force has truly lost a legend.  I first met "Mac", or as he used to introduce himself to folks he'd known for a long time "Baldy P. Mclellan" was truly one of a kind.  His sense of humor, especially on Staff Assistance Visits, made life a lot easier during the fast paced assignment to HQ TAC.  He was always a gentleman, and a great mentor to the new troops, no matter what rank they were.  Truly, he was a Chief's Chief.  My thoughts are with you and your family.

Mac was a great man whom I am very glad I had the pleasure to know.  My time in Virginia was made easier because of the dear friendship I shared with Mac and you, Melba.  You were like parents to us when we were young and away from our family.  He was the best boss I've ever had!  I will truly miss him!

What a loss for the Air Force Community as well as the Hampton Roads community at large.  I first met "Mac" in the basement of HQ TAC in 1978 where he was the Chief in the Command Equipment Management Section.  He took time to mentor new troops and always had a smile and laugh for everyone.  He was a Chief's Chief, not the perverbial E-9, and took care of the young troops who admired and respected him.  He helped me out a lot when I first arrived and I did not even work in his section.  One of my favorite memories is the time he and Col Sturk got a clamming session together with a bunch of the troops and out we went to get some clams one Saturday afternoon.  I wore a flight suit and Mac showed me how to rake the clams.  I was raking and looked up and saw two fins coming at me.  I tried to make for the boat but had too many clams stuffed into all the pockets of the flight suit so I could hardly move.  The fins turned out to be rays, not sharks like this land locked northern boy thought, and Mac laughed so hard at me he almost cried.  He never let me live that down until I PCS'd.  Think we got over 400 clams that day and went back to Mac's house to split the catch.  He was a wonderful human being.  He will be greatly missed.  Please accept my deepest sympathy at his passing.
