

Born in Harnett County, NC, on October 29, 1922, she moved to the Peninsula in the early 1940’s where she worked at Newport News Shipbuilding. Here she met Edgar M. Rideout whom she would marry in 1945. She would later spend many years being a homemaker, working at Peebles Department Store, and attending Fox Hill Central United Methodist Church, making many lifelong friends along the way.
Granny was preceded in death by her husbands, Edgar Rideout and Jack Kayton, and her grandchildren, David Rideout, Stoan Rideout, Caden Marks, and stepson, Jack Kayton.
She is survived by her brothers, Ronald and Ben Baker; children, Edgar Rideout, Jr., Elaine Brown and Scott, Rose Paul and Roger, and Celia Kay Gular and John; stepson, Rob Kayton and Donita; grandchildren, Melissa Marks and Steve, Dawn Young and Mike, Pat Patterson and Janeth, Kyle Gular, Todd Gular, Matt Gular, Justin Rideout, Ashley Rideout, Lee Rideout, and Gage Rideout, and her many beloved great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Fox Hill Central United Methodist Church, with a celebration of Granny’s life to follow. Interment will follow at Clark Cemetery.
