Egbert ‘Bert’ C. Griggs, 93, passed away at home in the presence of his loving family on Monday, October 8, 2018. He was born in Newport News, Virginia and was a resident of Hampton for many years.
Bert served in the United States Navy in WWII and participated in the landing on Normandy during D-Day.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa McCleney and a son, David Griggs. He is survived by his loyal and loving wife of 62 years, Irene, who took loving care of him until the end. He is also survived by his loving son, Steve and stepson, Mike Sneed. He leaves behind six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 12:00 pm on Monday, October 15, 2018 at Parklawn Memorial Park.
