

He was a resident of Schofield Barracks in Wahiawa, Hawaii. He grew up in Hampton, VA where he attended Kecoughtan High School. He loved being a cadet in the NJROTC program. After high school he relocated back home to New Jersey, where he made his decision to join the US Army.
Once he joined the military he received the highest achievement, in Physical Training for the 92nd Engineers. He was a very dedicated soldier. During his military career he served in Afghanistan, proudly protecting his country.
Erik was loved by many and will be sadly missed. Left to cherish his memory are his sisters, Samantha Wilson, Brittney Justice and Morgan White; brothers, Jay Standish, John-John Richard, Zachary Dashevsky and Jacob Dashevsky (whew); his loving wife, Holly Standish; nieces, Haley Gorman, Kylie Wilson and Emily Justice; parents, mother, Norma Dashevsky, father, John Richard; stepmother, Eileen Richard; stepfather, Robert Dashevsky; and biological father, Richard Standish. Preceding him in death are his maternal grandparents, Norman and Connie Nagy.
Viewing will be held from 7-9pm on Monday, September 17, 2012 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, Hampton, VA. A celebration of Erik's life will be held at 12pm, Tuesday, September 18 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. Following the service the United States Army will be performing full military honors as he is laid to rest at Parklawn Memorial Park. There will be a reception for the family and close friends following the service at 221 G Thoreau Circle, Yorktown, VA 23693.
