Esther was born on June 17, 1939 to the late George and Mable Darnell in Hampton where she lived all of her life. She was a loving wife and mother, a devout Christian who loved to sing, read the Bible, and cook. Her angel biscuits and cinnamon buns were legendary.
Esther was preceded in death by her parents, and her beloved husband, Jesse. She is survived by her sister, Brenda Moore of Fola, WV, four children, Terri and Mike Cash of Chesterfield, Jesse, Jr. and Donna Simmons of Chesterfield, Tami and Roy Morris of Hampton, and Georgeann and Jeff Hunt of Hampton; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 1:00 to 2:00 pm, Sunday, August 20, 2017 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of Esther’s life will follow at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Fox Hill Baptist Church, Building Fund.
