Fred honorably served eight years in the U.S. Air Force. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service and retired after 39 years of dedicated service.
Fred is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary K. Stern; daughter, Karen (John) Hollinger; two grandsons, Grant and Miller Hollinger; sister, Arlene Berliner; and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service with military rites rendered by the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard will be held at 10:00 AM, on Tuesday, January 7 at Parklawn Memorial Park. A celebration of Fred’s life will follow at 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church, 110 E. Queen St., Hampton, with Dr. Michael Nelson officiating. A reception will be held at the church following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to either First United Methodist Church or the Legacy Home for Hospice and Support, 2 Fenwick Rd., Hampton, VA 23651.
