He was a member of Ivy Memorial Baptist Church. In 2004, he retired from the U.S. Navy. George was a member of the Phoebus American Legion Post #48 and supported their baseball program. He was an avid New York Yankees fan. In 1969, he graduated from Hampton High School and went on to graduate in 1976 from the University of Richmond.
His parents, Edith and George M. Thomas, Sr., preceded George in rest.
The family will receive friends 1:00 to 2:00 pm, Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home and Memorial Park. A celebration of George’s life will follow at 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Phoebus American Legion Post #48 or Ivy Memorial Baptist Church.
