Gretchen Smith Parker

“Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” (Proverbs 19:21). Heaven gained another angel as we mourn the passing of Gretchen S. Parker, 85. She was born on August 20, 1936 in Richmond, Virginia and went to be with the Lord on October 24, 2021. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and a devoted believer of the Lord Jesus Christ. She loved spending time with her family and being actively involved in her church. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, William “Bill” Parker, her daughter Tracee Rice, son-in-law Jay Rice, and granddaughter Sara Rice. Her memory will live on in the countless number of lives she touched in her blessed time on this Earth. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Ave, Hampton, Virginia 23666 with a funeral service following at 2:00 p.m. Entombment will be at Parklawn Memorial Park.
