Harvey was preceded in rest by his father, Harvey Avant, Sr. and mother, Lois K. Avant. He leaves behind to treasure his memory his daughter, Dionne Howerton and husband, Eddie; son, Rickey Avant; sister, Sheila McKay; brother, Billy Avant and his wife, Kay; three grandchildren, Heather Powers, Eric Powers, and Amy Roberts; six great-grandchildren; nephews, Tommy Thompson, Johnny Bye, Harry Shoemaker, and Willie Avant; niece, Doris Marie Williams; and great-nieces and nephews.
Harvey loved riding motorcycles and being with his friends. He especially enjoyed eating out with his very special friend, Jessie.
A celebration of Harvey’s life will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, November 18, 2017, at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home and Memorial Park. Interment will at a later date.
