Helen Irene Card

Helen Card, 100 years old, passed away on June 29, 2016. Born in Almond, North Carolina to E. Lawrence and Laura Stillwell, moved to Hampton at age 13. The majority of her life was in the Wythe area. She met her soul mate Carl and began her life as wife and mother. Second to family was her love for flowers. Her yard was a place of beauty for every season.

Preceded in death by Carl, three brothers and one sister. Survivors are daughter, Barbara Card; son, Edwin Card and wife Lila; five granddaughters, Cindy Doherty Levine (Layne), Terri Doherty McCaughan (Kevin), Kelly Doherty Ashley (Ken), Lori Doherty Chaney (Paul), and Kimberly Card Campbell; eleven great-grandchildren; sister, Doris Clark and extended family.

A special thanks to the staff at St. Francis Nursing Center for their love, care and kindness.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 12:00 pm Sunday, July 3, 2016 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, Hampton. A service by Rev. Stanley Turnbull will follow at 12:00 pm with interment following at Peninsula Memorial Park, Newport News.
