He was born in Rockingham, North Carolina, and then became a resident of Newport News where he retired from Newport News Shipyard after 40 yearsof service.
He was preceeded in death by his parents, Charles and Catherine Jenkins and one sister, Cathy.
He will be dearly missed by his wife of 49 years, Beverly, two daughters, Karyn Menke and her husband Brad and daughter Kimberly Barry, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, three brothers, four sisters, and many nieces and nephews.
Herb was one of Jehovah's Witnesses, and his memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 21st at 1pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on 804 41st Street in Newport News, VA.
