Preceding him in rest are his parents, Hazel Edith and Howard Dwight Mitchell, Sr. and sisters, Teresa Mitchell Doty and Mary Mitchell Wilkes. Surviving members of his family include his sons, Howard Dwight Mitchell, III, and Timothy Ray Mitchell; and sisters, Faye Young, Rachel Armistead, Barbara Mitchell, and Ann Jones.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 3:00 PM, at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home.
