

Jim was the son of Mary Lou and William Wilkins Agnew. He was a native of Hampton, graduated from Hampton High School and had lived in Newport News for many years. He served in the U.S. Army and was a truck driver for most of his career. Jim was a NASCAR fan, enjoyed reading and learning about history and was interested in politics.
Jim was preceded in death by his father. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Patricia Agnew; his daughter, Tracy Agnew, and her fiancé, Troy Cooper, of Norfolk; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family wishes to thank his friends, John and Lulu Thompson, for their love and support, as well as nurses Monika and Shawniece at Riverside Regional Medical Center’s Intensive Care Unit and nurse LaToyia and Dr. Yousef at the Peninsula Cancer Institute.
The family will receive friends from 12 pm to 2 pm, Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of Jim’s life will begin at 2 pm with Pastor John Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
