He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ethel M. Samples; daughters, Linda Patterson and fiancé, Raymond Jenkins, Debra Barnes, and Janet Carpenter and her husband, Stephen; and grandchildren, Zach Barnes and Ashley Carpenter.
Services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 7, 2012.
