

John William Blelloch III, a beloved father, grandfather, educator, neighbor and friend, passed away on February 8, 2025, in Leesburg, Virginia at the age of 78. Born on October 26, 1946, John spent most of his life in Hampton, Virginia raising a family with his wife, Wanda, his college sweetheart whom he met at James Madison University.
John taught 11th grade US History at Hampton High School for 20+ years. Beyond the classroom, John found joy in cooking, golfing, gardening and hanging with the neighbors. He was an avid reader and enjoyed any book on World War I/II and former Presidents. He found joy in cooking for others whether it be his famous Christmas Egg Nog or Wanda’s favorite Oyster Stew. He was an active part of the Hampton Roads community and touched the lives of thousands through his years as an educator.
John was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Wanda, who passed away in 2018. He is survived by his son, Chris Blelloch (Heather) and his grandchildren Nolan and Morgan.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate John’s life will be held on Tuesday, February 18th, 2025, at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home & Memorial Park, located at 2551 N Armistead Ave, Hampton, Va 23666.
The viewing will take place from 1:00PM to 2:00PM, followed by a service from 2:00PM to 3:00PM. Burial will take place immediately afterward onsite at the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that those wishing to honor John’s memory make a donation to a favorite charity, share a cocktail or meal with a friend or neighbor, or simply play a round of golf with ample mulligans.
